Philanthropy
ZBT is the most decorated fraternity at CSUN for its dedication to charitable fundraising events. Gamma Beta Chapter was named the most outstanding Greek philanthropic organization at CSUN three out of the past four years. This stems largely from our involvement with on-campus activities such as the very special Arts Festival for the handicapped and our "Penny Mile". Conceived by ZBT in 1983, the Penny Mile takes place once each semester. During the event, ZEBES put down strips of tape that if laid end to end would be a mile in length. The brothers then approach students and faculty persuading them to empty their pockets of loose change. The one week project raises about $1500, and all proceeds go to the CSUN Disabled Students Organizations.
Our primary event each year is the Heart Run which is sponsored by James R. Gary Realty. The fundraiser includes various Habitat for Humanityevents to raise money for the treatment of Heart Disease. ZBT is the primary volunteer sponsor for the event and has officially co-sponsored the event in the past few years. In previous years, ZBT has helped raise nearly $200,000 for this worthy cause.
